Overall Opinion:

ChocoRite Protein Shake is just middle of the road for me, so I gave it 2.5 out of 5 stars.

It has a few good perks and a few things I don’t like.

I’m surprised because it has a solid protein source:  Whey Protein Isolate.

That’s a fantastic protein and is really easy to digest.

It also has some great additions like 5 grams of fiber and 16 vitamins and minerals.

There’s FOS, a natural prebiotic fiber that helps with digestion, absorption, and immune function.

It has medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s) that are believed to help increase energy and burn fat.

The downsides are that it tastes pretty artificial and has a lot of additives.

It’s also not allergy friendly at all.  It contains EGG, MILK, and SOY.

I got some minor side effects from it, too.

I don’t like soy in my protein powders because it can mess with your hormones and make it harder to lose weight and/or gain muscle.

There’s also no satisfaction or moneyback guarantee, such a bummer!

Detailed Opinion:

Ease of Use

This shake is easy to use.

Just take 2 scoops and mix it with 12 ounces (1 ½ cups) of cold water.

You can blend, shake, or stir it.

If you use a blender, mix it for about 30 – 40 seconds and it’ll come out creamier.

Taste

I got the Strawberry Cream flavor.

It tastes very artificial and sweet.

Unfortunately, I just wasn’t a big fan of the flavor.

It tasted a little better when I threw it in a blender with some ice, making it thicker and creamier in texture.

Macro Analysis

Breaking down the macros, this protein powder has 24 grams of protein, 3 grams of fat, and 8 grams of carbohydrates per serving (2 scoops).

There’s 5 grams of fiber, which is great, in each serving.

This brings the net carbs down to only 3g.

So the macros are good and it has 150 calories per serving.

Ingredient Drilldown

ChocoRite Protein Shake has 1 protein source:  Whey Protein Isolate.

I was pleasantly surprised to see such a high quality protein in here.

Whey isolate is very clean and super easy and quick to digest.

It has 16 vitamins and minerals including:  Vitamin A, C, D, E, B6, B12, Calcium, Thiamin, Niacin, Folate, Biotin, Phosphates, Iron, Riboflavin, Panthothenic Acid, and Zinc.

It also has FOS, which is a prebiotic fiber.

It helps feed the good bacteria in the gut, promotes healthy digestion, improves mineral absorption including Calcium, and helps strengthen the immune system.

This shake includes medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are shown to potentially increase energy and help burn fat.

This protein powder has some allergy concerns because it contains MILK, SOY, AND EGGS.

It’s also made in a facility that also produces products containing wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts.

Side Effects

I did have some minor side effects from this shake.

I had some stomach upset and headaches.

It wasn’t horrible but I definitely noticed it.

Maybe it’s because it uses artificial sweetener and isn’t allergy friendly.

Best Uses

This shake is really geared towards those dieting and wanting to lose weight.

It specifically says it’s great for all diets including Weight Watchers, South Beach, and Atkins.

It doesn’t explicitly say it’s meal replacement but I think it can be used as one.

Or as a healthy, filling snack alternative.

It has 24 grams of high quality protein and 5 grams of fiber, both of which will keep you feeling full (and in turn eating and snacking less!)

There are 16 vitamins and minerals, which is always a great addition to a healthy diet.

Price/Value

ChocoRite Protein Shake costs a total of $19.99 ($13.99 + $6 shipping) for a 14.7 oz bag.

That works out to 7.57 cents per gram of protein.

That’s about average, maybe a bit higher.

I think it’s a decent value for the price.

Guarantee

ChocoRite has no guarantee whatsoever.

It’s funny because their return policy doesn’t make any sense.

Here’s what their website says:

“We’re so confident you will love our delicious products we offer a no risk return policy. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your purchase, you may return it within 30 days of purchase for a refund or replacement. Just return it in new condition and send it back to us! You will receive your credit within 7-10 business days. Sorry shipping charges are not refundable. Opened items can NOT be returned.”

So…they’re so confident that you’ll love the product, however you don’t even get to try it first if you want to return it.

Lame!
