Overall Opinion:
Muscle Milk Genuine Protein Powder gets a 2.5 out of 5 star rating.
I’m really not impressed with this particular product.
I expected a lot more since the brand is Muscle Milk but it’s just middle of the road for me.
One thing that bothers me is that it advertises 32 grams of protein on the front center of the container.
However, 32 grams of protein is for 2 scoops.
The Nutrition Facts state that a serving size is 1 scoop and that it contains 32 servings.
Yet, if you want the promoted 32 grams of protein, then you wind up with only 16 servings per container.
Another thing I really don’t like is the taste of this protein powder.
I was really excited for the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor and was severely disappointed.
It tastes awful and nothing like those flavors.
It’s so bland and chalky, with a nasty aftertaste.
To go along with the nasty taste, I also got nasty side effects.
I had a stomachache and bloating.
It wasn’t fun and I felt bogged down.
Another weird thing is the consistency of the powder itself.
It’s chalky with chunks and relatively fluffy so it gets everywhere but the shaker cup you’re desperately trying to put it into.
The few perks I found with this protein powder is that it’s best used for those looking to bulk up and build muscle mass.
If you take 2 scoops, you get 32 grams of protein from Calcium Sodium Caseinate and Milk Protein Isolate, 11 grams of fat, and 310 calories.
It also has solid amino acids, including BCAAs to help with muscle growth and recovery.
Included in the formula are 20 vitamins and minerals, which is a nice little perk.
Overall, it just ended up being an average protein powder with pluses and minuses on each side.
Detailed Opinion:
Ease of Use
Muscle Milk Genuine Protein Powder is fairly easy to mix.
However, the powder itself is really chalky yet fluffy, so it has a tendency to get everywhere.
For 1 scoop, you mix it with 5 – 8 fluid ounces.
For 2 scoops, you mix it with 10 – 16 fluid ounces.
You can mix it with water or milk and it takes about 10-20 seconds to mix up in a shaker cup.
It ends up pretty thick and gritty.
Taste
I got the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor and was SO disappointed.
The flavor tastes horrible and resembles nothing of chocolate or peanut butter.
It’s really bland and not palatable.
It also has a weird aftertaste and is chalky.
The whole thing is just a hot mess.
Macro Analysis
The macros for 1 scoop equal 16 g protein, 6 g fat, and 9 g carbs. It also has 150 calories.
For 2 scoops, the macros are 32 g protein, 11 g fat, and 19 g carbs. 2 scoops or protein has 310 calories.
Both sets of macros are good amounts for those looking to gain some muscle and bulk up.
Ingredient Drilldown
Muscle Milk Genuine Protein Powder uses Calcium Sodium Caseinate and Milk Protein Isolate as the main protein sources.
This combination of fast and slow releasing proteins allows for steady, prolonged protein absorption.
It has a solid amino acid profile, including essential and nonessential amino acids.
It contains branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), Leucine, Valine, and Isoleucine that help with muscle growth and muscle recovery.
It also includes 20 vitamins and minerals: Vitamins A, C, D, E, B6, B12, iron, calcium, phosphorus, iodine, zinc, copper, chromium, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, biotin, pantothenic acid, and magnesium.
This protein powder has milk and sucralose in it, which some people are allergic or sensitive to.
Side Effects
I experienced some bad stomachaches and belly bloating after drinking this protein powder.
I felt sluggish and sick.
It wasn’t fun and the ill feelings didn’t help me before or after my workouts.
Best Uses
After using and analyzing this protein powder, its best uses are for building muscle and/or bulking up.
It recommends 2 scoops for those wanting to build size and gain muscle mass.
2 scoops equal 32 grams of protein, which can definitely aid in muscle growth.
It’s also heavier in terms of calories, fat, and carbs.
Price/Value
Muscle Milk Genuine Protein Powder costs $26.26 for a 2.47-pound container.
It has 16 grams of protein per scoop and contains 32 servings.
That works out to 5.12 cents per gram of protein.
It’s a pretty inexpensive protein powder compared to others.
However, you get what you pay for in my opinion.
Guarantee
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a guarantee on the Muscle Milk website but you might be able to get a refund if you buy it at Amazon or at certain retailers.
