Overall Opinion:

OWYN Wellness + Energy Plant-Based Protein gets a 4 out of 5 stars because I really love it!

I’m super impressed with this protein powder!

It basically has everything you could need in it.

It’s 100% plant-based so it’s a fantastic option if you’re vegan, vegetarian, or have allergies.

There’s 20 grams of complete plant protein with uber important BCAAs to help with endurance, strength, and muscle recovery.

This shake comes with an assortment of awesome ingredients.

It has a full serving of organic greens, 500 mg of Omega-3’s, and 74 bioactive trace minerals.

Another huge perk is that it has 125 mg of caffeine from coffee!

So it’s perfect as a healthy little pre-workout buzz.

It also has probiotics in it to help with digestion and immune function.

It tastes great and is so allergy friendly!  It’s free from the top 8 allergens.

There’s no stevia, sugar alcohols, preservatives, or anything artificial!

Overall, I love this protein powder!  I just wish it had a guarantee and included more than just 14 servings per container.

It works with so many diets and lifestyles and offers a great alternative to typical dairy based protein powders.

Detailed Opinion:

Ease of Use

It blends up pretty well no matter what method you use.

Just take 2 scoops and mix with 8-10 ounces of water or combine into your daily smoothie.

I made it with my shaker cup and with a blender.

This is a plant-based protein so it has that distinctly thick, gritty texture to it.

So no matter what way you mix it, you still get that texture.

It’s definitely better if you blend it or throw it in with your other smoothie ingredients.

I got OWYN Wellness + Energy Plant-Based Protein in the Cold Brew Coffee flavor.

If you like cold brew or are a fan of coffee in general, then you’re going to love this flavor!

I really like it because it tastes just like coffee.

It has a subtle sweetness to it, which makes it perfect in my opinion.

A warning though, it definitely has that distinct plant-based aftertaste.

If you’ve never tried a plant-based protein before, they pretty much all have this slightly weird taste to it.

It’s like chalky tasting and sometimes reminds me of oats or nuts.

But regardless, I still think it tastes good.

I just blended mine with almond milk (or whatever milk alternative you’d like) and it came out tasting great.

Macro Analysis

The macros for 1 serving (2 scoops) of this shake are as follows:  20 grams protein, 3.5 grams fat, and 9 grams of carbs.

This is a solid set of macros, especially if you’re following a plant-based diet.

There’s also 150 calories per serving, which is also really good.

Ingredient Drilldown

OWYN Wellness + Energy Plant-Based Protein has an amazing assortment of ingredients that could really do a body good!

There’s 20 grams of complete plant protein and it’s dairy-free and 100% plant-based.

The protein sources are pea protein concentrate, pumpkin protein, and chia.

It gives you all 9 essential amino acids and naturally occurring BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) like leucine, isoleucine, and valine.

This helps enhance muscle recovery and boost optimal daily health.

Each serving has a full serving of organic greens and superfoods like kale, spinach, zucchini, and broccoli.

It includes flaxseed, which makes it high in vegan omega 3’s.

In total, it has 74 Bioactive Trace Minerals.

This shake has 125 mg of caffeine from coffee.  So you get a nice little pre-workout buzz to get you going.

It also has 1 billion CFU of probiotics!  That’s definitely a unique addition and helps improve digestion.

OWYN seems to include everything you need and leave out all the junk!

This protein powder is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, peanut and tree nut-free, egg-free, non-GMO project verified, kosher, and vegan.

There’s no artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, stevia, sugar alcohols, or artificial sweeteners.  Major bonus!

It just uses natural flavors and monk fruit to sweeten the shake.

Side Effects

For some reason, I got a slight stomachache and headache when I drank this protein shake first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

It wasn’t horrible but it was distracting.

That problem pretty much went away if I ate a little something before or right after drinking this protein powder.

So maybe just keep that in mind if you have a sensitive stomach or aren’t used to drinking caffeine or taking probiotics (both of which are included in here).

Best Uses

After testing this product out, I’d say it’s best for those looking to tone up or lose weight.

Since it’s 100% plant-based, it’s particularly best for vegans or vegetarians.

It’s also a perfect option if you have dairy, soy, egg, or gluten allergies.

This is one of the only plant-based proteins I’ve seen that works with low-carb diets or Paleo because it doesn’t use starchy ingredients like brown rice, buckwheat, millet, or quinoa as protein sources.

OWYN Wellness + Energy Plant-Based Protein costs $26.99 for a 1.2-pound container.

When you work it out, it comes to 9.6 cents per gram of protein, which is above average for a protein powder.

However, plant based protein powders are usually a premium.

With this particular one, I think the price is worth it!

It’s a good quality protein that could fit the needs for a lot of people.

I couldn’t find any type of guarantee on the OWYN website.

This is a huge disappointment!

I really expected them to offer their customers something in terms of a guarantee.
